An early adopter of Gopher [menu-driven hypertext] and a beta tester for early Web browsers, Laurie first presented on user-driven information architecture in 1994 at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications' second Web development conference. As Administrative Manager, Biomathematics at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, she pioneered Internet recruitment there and helped build its first comprehensive departmental Web site.

Laurie’s background includes new product commercialization at Sanofi-Aventis, scientific/business intelligence at an emerging biotech, health outcomes research at WellPoint and survey research from the agency side for numerous manufacturers and health systems. Her presentations on health decision support have been part of national disease management, managed care, e-health and business intelligence events. She is a Managed Care On Line (mcolblog.com) faculty blogger.

Drawing on decades of peer-to-peer interaction with HCPs, payors, caregivers and patients, Laurie publishes and presents in a variety of channels, from studies in clinical journals to branding “how-to’s.” She champions engagement with the social Web while continuing to support the full range of activities necessary to understand and influence where, when, how and why decisions about diagnosis, treatment and reimbursement are made.

Laurie earned a BA in Philosophy/Business Administration from the University of Houston and her Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Texas. At Trellist, her cross-vertical functions include research/ positioning, writing/editing and strategic support of print/interactive design.
